We interviewed 8 or 9 designers before deciding on Lightning UX and never looked back. We always get praise about our site and app design!
Lightning UX took my idea for a cool, 80s themed B2B site for founders and delivered an amazing brand and website.
Michael helped us take a cobbled together idea of our rebrand and bring it to life, with a defined style guide, amazing new website in Webflow and we’re continuing with many other UX initiatives.
When you subscribe, we'll send you a link to your own personal Trello board.
On the board, you'll be able to add your design requests, and one-by-one we will work through them for you.
You can invite as many members of your team as you like to your Trello board.
Typically your designs will be with you in a few working days.
Some clients have even gotten their first design asset completed within hours of subscribing.
If your requests are slightly more complicated, the design may take longer. For example, a simple hero section redesign might take two days, whereas an analysis of your user feedback along with suggestions about how you update the user journeys for your app might take a week or longer.
Regardless, you'll have an oversight of progress on your company's unique Trello board and regular video updates via Loom.
Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays in the UK).
If the design is visual, it will typically be shared via Figma.
You will get access to the raw file, where you can tweak anything you like and share your comments.
If your request was for research or a specific review, other tools like FigJam, Notion or Google Docs may be used.
In some cases where more of an explanation is required around the work, I supply a Loom walkthrough of the design and the explain decisions made throughout.
Yes.
We understand the value that face-to-face meetings can offer when discussing complex projects.
All new subscribers have a free introductory call, and we have an open calendar for clients who want to discuss an ongoing project or design task.
We do not offer recurring meetings (e.g. daily stand-ups) to ensure a timely response to all design tasks for all clients.
If you want to have a call before you subscribe, you can book a 30 minute slot via Cal.
In the UK, and so Lightning UX might be most useful to you if you operate in the UK or Europe.
If you're overseas that's ok too, as the work is often completed asynchronously.
We have worked with clients all the way from the US to Asia with seamless communication and delivery.
No problem. While you're subscribed you have unlimited revisions of the work.
We want to make sure you're 100% happy with the final design.
If you request a refund and have not requested any work, you can get a partial refund of 80%. Partial refunds are offered due to the time it will take to perform the administrative work to cancel your subscription and undo the work done setting up your account.
If you have requested work then unfortunately we do not offer refunds due to the time commitment we would've already made towards delivering your design assets.
We do not offer refunds if you are unhappy with a design. We are happy to work with you to ensure the design is meeting your needs, which is why we offer unlimited revisions and iterations during your subscription.
The number of clients at any given moment is restricted to four. Providing every client with the best possible designs is the priority, not getting as many clients as possible.
When all client slots are taken, others cannot subscribe on the site anymore. When places open up, so does the ability to subscribe again.
Right now, Lightning UX is an agency of one. You'll be working directly with me, Michael Fordham.
I have a first-class degree in software engineering with a specialised focus in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), user experience (UX), user interface (UI) design and usability.
I've got years of experience in startups, beginning in UX/UI roles, before transitioning to full-stack development, and then back to UX again. This has given me an incredible insight into how startups work, how to be the most impactful and how I can deliver designs that are both innovative and technically feasible.
I have previously worked with leading global tech companies, including Wix, Toptal, VerifyEd, Knapsack and Vev (to name a few).
In the future, the Lightning UX team may be expanded to include more specialist designers and researchers.
We donate a portion of our revenue every month to support International Rescue Committee and The Wave Project.
We also contribute to Stripe Climate, which helps support new eco technologies to reduce our impact on the climate and reduce CO2. So far we have helped remove more than 700kg of CO2 from the atmosphere.
We offer a discounted subscription rate to charities, so please get in touch if you think you may be eligible.
